SPORTS’ WONDERLAND CARNIVAL.

At His Majesty’s Theatre this evening the Sports’ Wonderland Carnival will bo officially opened by the Lion. C. E. Stathnm, M. P, Tho adjoining halls will also bo used, and- these have been transformed into a miniature fairyland. The Victoria Hall will be the Palais do Danse, conducted by Professor Fitzmauricc, who will be assisted by a first-class jazz orchestra, and in Fullers’ Hull and the theatre annexe there will be numerous stalls and sideshows. Attractive entertainments will be presented each evening. To-night Miss Lappan’s students will give an entertainment, and later in tho evening an amusing oneact comedy, entitled “Mrs Bouncer’s Boarders,’’ will be staged by Mr and Mrs A. R. Gardner and Major Lawmen. A featuie of this performance will be tho introduction of the famous ‘Twin Duet.” On Monday evning this comedy will be repeated, and. the students of the Otago School of Dancing will assist, with the remainder of the programme. To-night music will be provided by the Dunedin Highland Pipe Band ami on Monday night by the combined bands. Considerable interest is being shown in the gala day which will be held in connection with the Sports’ Wonderland Carnival at the Caledonian Ground on Monday. Some excellent boxing bouts have been arranged, and in the wrestling events a number of well-known performers will compete. Morgan and Stewart, two noted Otago runners, will meet in the sprint events. In addition there will be amateur and professional cycling races and several noVelty events.
