REAL LIFE MELODRAMA

AN ACTRESS ASSAULTED. HUSBAND INVADES STAGE. lAssociation —By Telegraph— Copyright ROME, October 15. During a melodrama in a Naples theatre a man appeared in the wings and threatened to beat the leading lady unless she returned to live with him. The audience, unaware that the man was the actress’s husband, loudly applauded the realism of the acting. Even when the man beat the woman with a stick the audience did not guess. Finally the members of the company rushed to rescue the leading lady. The actress was taken to hospital and the husband was removed to gaol.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
