The amount that Harold Lowry Penny, accountant, should be awarded on account of injuries inflicted on him by Edward Skevington’s car in an accident on the Papanui road was considered by Mr Justice Biin and a jury of 12 at the Supreme Court (oThe plaintiff claimed that, he was entitled to £2131 19s 4d. The defendant, who admitted liability, paid £750 into the court, and pleaded that it was sufficient to satisfy plaintiff The jnrv returned a verdict for plaintiff for £1299'3s 4d. being £624 3s 4d special damages, and £675 general damages.
