HOSPITAL BOARD REPORTS.
Following are the principal clauses in tho Otago Hospital Board reports, additional to what has already been published:— The Benevolent Committee reports that during the past month 40 cases have been dealt with at a weekly cost of £2B 16s 6d. Casual cases for relief amounting to £296 18s 2d have been approved. Application has been made to the Dunedin City Council for electric lighting at Alexandra Street, and a reply has been received to the effect that all gas lamps in. and around the city are being replaced with electric lights, and those referred to will' he done til earliest possible date. Tho Hospital Committee recommends that the suggestion of the honorary medical staff for the appointment of a librarian hi the Medical School Library, such appointee to act as part-time records clerk in the Dunedin Hospital, be approved, the salary to lie at the rale of £IOO per annum, half of this amount to he paid by the Otago Hospital Board, and the appointee to he a Hospital Board employee: that Miss "Wilhclmina Slater he appointed sub-matron of the Infectious Diseases Hospital. Lake Logan, at a salary commencing at (he rate of £l5O per annum, the appointment to hold good during the pleasure of the board and to be terminable bv one month’s notice from either side; that the insulin treatment now being given at the Dunedin Hospital be an extra charge on patients in the Dunedin Hospital on the same terms ns radium treatment. The Finance Committee recommends (hat. rnodieal students in their third year of training ho charged at tfie same rate as fourth, fifth, and six-year students—namely, half maintenance foes and half X-ray fees, if they are not. insured. The tender of Messrs Barton and Trengmve for the supply of meat to the hoard's various institutions namely. Dunedin Hospital. Nurses’ Home, Otago Benevolent Institution, Prince Fdward Convalescent Home, and Batchelor and Fever Hospitals—ha.s been accepted in terms of (he amended schedule. Authority has been granted for application to be made to the trustees in the estate of the late Mrs Llssie Rathhone for consideration of the hoard in the participation of funds to he distributed at the discretion of' the trustees. The whole of the charges for the hoard’s telephones shows an increase of £SB Is 9d. and the mall'P' h-is been referred to (he chairman of the Finance (Vmimitlee, the medical superintendent, and the secretary for a. report.
