Mourey was arrested on a charge of stealing Jewelery valued at £25,000 from a millionaire of New York. For murder he was transported to the Devil’s Island, the French convict station, but he made a remarkable escape. He then settled in Venezuela, where he committed many thefts, and next he proceeded to Mexico.
