The body of the man found in the harbour on Wednesday last has been identified as that of William Rule, aged 37, a single man, of Ponsonby, who had been missing since September 2. He was born in Australia, and came to the dominion as a boy, -but spent his manhood in the commonwealth, returning here three years ago. A DETERMINED SUICIDE. AUCKLAND. October 7. Henry Houghten, 51 years of age, married, of Owen s road, committed suicide by shooting himself in the mouth with a pea rifle. KILLED BY GUN SHOT. While Erie Ridgloy, aged 20, was riding on top of a wagon load of posts, at Ramarama, near Drury, yesterday afternoon, with a gun lying beside him, the weapon was shaken off the wagon. In the fall the trigger became caught, and one barrel was discharged, the shot entering his chest. He was .brought to Auckland Hospital, where he died during the night. The father is stationmaster at Pahiatua, and deceased was employed as a bank clerk at Tauranga. CRUSHED BY A TRUCK. _ HOKITIKA, October 6. Thomas M'Gillicuddy, aged 40 years, of Groymonth, was fatally injured yesterday near Manaui sawmill. He was engaged in trucking "ravel on the tram line, when he fell, and tho wheels passed ovev him, crushing his right shoulder. He died a few hours later in Westland Hospital. SUICIDE AT ROXBURGH. The superintendent, of police has been advised that Frederick Butler, a single man, aged 60 years, living alone near Roxburgh, shot himself at 4 p.m. on Friday. He left a letter addressed to the police, indicating that he was contemplating suicide. KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR OAR. A man named Robert Jones, while crossing Princes street at the Stafford street corner at 4.45 p.m. on Saturday, was knocked clown by a motor car. He received injuries to his head, and was admitted to ’the Dunedin Hospital. BOY THROWN FROM BICYCLE. George Craig, aged 15 years, was thrown heavily to the ground on the Anderson’s Bay road, early on Saturday afternoon through the front wheel of his bicycle being caught in the tram rails. Ho was admitted to the Hospital suffering from injuries to his head. The lad resides at 56 Onoho road.
