DUNEDIN COMPETITIONS
SATISFACTORY ENTRIES. The annual festival of the Dunedin Com--petitions Society will bo opened on September 18 and ■ will be continued until October 6. Three halls—His Majesty’s Theatre, the Victoria Hall, and Bums Hall —will be engaged in the day time, and as usual the recalled competitors will perform in His Majesty's Theatre at night. The entries show an increase over the figures for last year, totalling 1671, as compared with 1595. in 1922. The bulk of the intending competitors reside in Dunedin and the surrounding districts, but it is satisfactory to note that entries have been received from Napier, Palmerston North. Ot-aki, Wellington,.Christchurch, Timaru, Oamaru, Gore, and Invercargill. The following will act as judges: Elocution, Mr W. L. Paine; instrumental and vocal music, Mr Harold Gregson; national dancing, Mr Duncan M'Lennan (who has just arrived from Scotland); fancy dancing. Miss Madeline Vyner.
