Stainless steel has been followed by untarnished silver, and its discovery _was almost an accident. A silver alloy of high ductility was being sought for, and it was noticed that some of the samples left over on the work bench showed no signs of tarnishing, reports the Daily Chronicle. This aroused curiosity, curiosity resulted in research, and untarnishable silver is the reward. The difficulty was to produce an alloy which could be given the hallmark and yet be endowed with the necessarv qualities.
