INDIA AND AFGHANISTAN
LAHORE, August 9. Twelve American missionaries stationed in various parts of India have issued a statement regretting that the United States Supreme Courts have ruled that Indians are ineligible for American citizenship. They urge that the Aliens Laud Act be not enforced, thus depriving Indians of land acquired in good faith. The Kabul police have petitioned the Amir of Afghanistan to be allowed to subscribe a month’s pay towards the education of Afghan youths abroad. Unusual activity is being displayed at Kabul aerodrome, where two Russian and two Italian aeroplanes, which have never yet flown, are being assembled. The trial of the murderers of the men of the Seaforth Regiment commenced a month ago, but it has not vet been divulged whether the trial is finished.
