. BEQUEST FOB BEOESS COMMITTEE. (Feom One Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON. August 20. In the House of Representatives to-day Mr V. H. Potter (Roskill) asked the Prime Minister, seeing that 85,000 petitioners had petitioned Parliament for a Select Committee to bo set up to deal with the licensing of bookmakers, would he set up such a committee this session to deal with the whole question during the recess to report to the House next session ? The Prime Minister replied that nothing could be done this .session. He did not think anything could be gained by setting up a Select Committee Mr Potter: Wo want a Select Committee to deal with it during the recess so as to report.. Mr Massey: I hope the bon. member will leave the matter over till next session.
