CANDIDATE FOR DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION. VresM Association—By Telegraph—OopyrigUt NEW YORK, July 31. Aceording to a message from Montgomery, Alabama, Senator Underwood announces that, he will be a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the Presidency in 1924.—A. and N.Z. Cable.

Mr O. W. Underwood, who is a lawyer by profession, was bom in 1862. He entered politics in 1895 as a member of Congress and in 1916 he took his seat in the Senate, being elected Democratic leader in 1920. He was one of America’s representatives at the Washington Conference.
