Importuning.—Minnie O’Connor, on remand, was charged with loitering and importuning in Market Reserve on the night of July 25.—Sergeant Dunlop said that the accused, who had pleaded guilty, had been remanded in order that inquiries might ho made concerning a coat, which she had sold. #t had been ascertained that she had had nothing to do with the theft of the coat. Another person would bo charged with the offence later. As regards the charge to which she had pleaded guilty, the Sergeant said that she had been seen accosting men in the vicinity of Manor place. She was a well-known character, and had a police record.—The Magistrate (to Ensign Coombs) ; Could you do anything with her at the Salvation Army Home? —The Arc-used: I don’t wish to go to the homo; I would rather go to Addington.—The Magistrate: It is not a matter of where you t wish to go. His Worship added that the hocused might he a disturbing element iinthe home, and sentenced her to one months’ imprisonment, with hard labour’. A Serious Charge.—Roland Hill Pelvin, a young man, was charged with indecently assaulting a boy.—Sergeant Dunlap asked for a remand, and this was granted till August 10.
