It is not often that the pokcho, the longlegged, queer-looking swamp bird, is to bo seen in Taranaki nowadays. Twenty-five years ago these birds were numerous in almost every swamp. A few days ago three fine specimens were seen in a paddock near a swamp on the outskirts of New Plymouth. Special art portrait of Lady Maui Pomare, the wife of the now Minister of Health.
