THE POWER OF WIRELESS.
COSTS A MAYOR £I2OO. The Mayor of San Francisco, in his enthusiasm for wireless, made rather an expensive error recently when dedicating a new broadcasting station. In speaking into the transmitter the opening address he told his far-flung audience that he would like to know how far ins voice curried and how big his audience was. "Send me telegrams.” he declared, ‘‘and send (hem ‘pay on delivery.’ From some aspects his Worship got very satisfactory results, since among others he received replies from a ship 1000 miles out at sea, and even from Honolulu. That little phrase “pay on delivery.” however, by the end of the same clay must have had considerable effect on bis financial resources, for those cables “paid on delivery” cost him £1200!
