MINING.
The directors, of Hauraki Mines (Ltd.) have issued a. report stating that protection for 12 months has been obtained for the company’s property, also that an option has been granted over the mine and plant on the terms that the company is to receive either £BOOO in cash, or 10 per cent in fully paidup shares of the total capital in the event of a now company being: formed such, shares not to be less' than 10,000. The manager of Ohineinun Mines reports that the recent heavy mins caused further slips on the water races, and no work has been done in the mine in the past week, all the men being engaged in clearing the slips. Sufficient progress has been made to enable mining operations to bo resumed on Monday. . The report of the manager of New Waiotaiii states that the winze on the Footwall reef has been sunk to a depth of 20ft, at which point old workings were met with, and work was suspended. The drive north on the course of the reef has been resumed, and from the latest survey there is a considerable extent of ground to prospect in this direction.
