As a result of intense heat, the thermometer registering 95deg in the shade, there have been 21 deaths throughout the United States. Many cities are opening their parks for night sleeping. The heat reached 104 deg at Connecticut. —A. and N.Z. Cable. DEATH ROLL INCREASED. NEW YORK, June 21. (Received June 22, at 9.10 p.m.) The heat wave throughout the country caused 68 deaths in two days, 11 of which occurred in New York. The temperature in many cities was as high as 104 degrees.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
