MOSGIEL BRASS BAND
A bazaar of two days’ duration was opened last night in Moogicl in aid of the local brass band. The object of tho bazaar, which was opened by the Mayor (Mr J. C. Browne), is to pay off the debt on tho new instruments. The stalls were well filled at tho opening, and plenty of goods are forward to replenish them for to-night's sale. Music was supplied both inside and outsido tho hall by the band, and also by the Taieri Pipe Band. An exhibit that attracted much attention was a photo of the first Mosgiel Band. Tea rooms arranged on the stage were well patronised, and the various competitions which formed part of the effort also provided amusement. Tho playing of the bund was much appreciated, and showed the progress being made under tho conductor, Air A. G. Haigh. The stalls were presided over by tho following;—Fancy stall, Alcsdames H. Swallow and Mrs Grant; plain sewing stall, Alcsdames J. B. M'Lcod, J. Haigh, and J. Logan; cake stall, Airs Alclrnso and the Misses Melrose; sweets stall, Misses Gourlay and Turnbull; dip, Alisscs Collie; lucky bags stall, Alcsdames Al'Lcod, Guest, Henderson, Cheyne, Misses Al'Leod (2), and Mitchell, and Messrs A. ATLcod, E. Wilson, and I?. Gibson; produce stall, Alcsdames Johnson, Young, Allan, and Gibson, and Messrs J. Williamson, T. Williams, and W. H. L. Christie; shooting and competitions, Alcssrs I). Connor, Henderson, and assistants; tea rooms, Alesdames W. Al'Leod, J. A. Aitken, A. G. Gibson, H. Johnston, W. Gibson, Alisscs N. Al'Leod, Cummings, ATAuslin, Aitken.
