The Dredge was built by Messrs Joseph Sparrow and Sons (Ltd.), Dunedin. The pontoons are of kauri and handwood, approximate dimensions, length 113 ft, ejepth 7ft 9in and 6ft, 3m, well sft 6fn; Marshall Compound Engirie, 20 H.P.; Sparrow Dredger Type Boiler, 40 11. P., 1301 b pressure; ladder, 62ft centre's, buckets 6 cubic feet capacity, pins 2-iin diam. ; Steam Winches, 6 barrels; Screen with liners; Elevator with tray buckets. The dredge has all other necessary equipment. The mining rights are on the Clutha River above Cromwell, and comprise a special Dredging Claim of 40 acres, and right to dredge two areas of about 45 acres and 1| acres respectively of the Cromwell Athenaeum Endowment.
