(Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 31. In connection with the Hikurangi coal mines dispute it is probable, as the result of a request from the New Zealand Miners’ Federation, that another conference between the parties will ho held. Air Hally (Conciliation Commissioner) expresses the opinion that if such a conference eventuates there is every prospect of the difficulty being overcome. A record number of births for any one month were registered here in May the number totalling 034. The previous highest total was 329, in July. 1920. Other high figures are 325 in October, 1914; 322 in October, 1912; 320 in May, 1912 : 306 in October, 1913; 205 in December, 1911. There was n total for five months of 1368, against 1333 for the corresponding period in 1922. PALMERSTON NORTH, May 31. In the Palmerston North Police’ Court Victor Kirner and Andrew Colt, escapees from Weraroa Training Farm, pleaded guilty to two charges of breaking and entering local premises and stealing money and goods; also to breaking and entering promises at Levin and stealing articles of wear and food. They were committed to the Supreme Court, Wellington, for sentence. HAMILTON, May 31. A conference of representatives qf. the South Auckland and Bay of Plenty dairy companies approved the principles of the Dairy Control Bill. At the Waikato Winter Show the poultry championship awards were Utility black Orpington (male), N. A. Naming; fancy Minorca (male), H. Hanson; female. W. Bailey- Buff Pekin bantam (male), K. C. Brown: female, Betts Bros. The GovernorGeneral is to visit the show (q-night. The takings are still a record. A young man, George Nichoisoli, who was found lying with a gnn beside Him. and a note indicating his wishes in regard to Ahe disposal of his property, died in hospital to-day.
