SOUTH ISLAND BAND CONTEST

£ISOO IN PRIZE MONEY. (Fbb United Pbess Association.) CHRISTCHTJRCH, May 30. At a meeting of the Christchurch Band Contest Committee it was decided to offer prize money totalling £ISOO for the South Island band contest. This amount exceeds that of any previous contest in Australasia. The contest will be held in February next. Lord Jellicoe advised that he was pleased to aooopt the office of patron. It was agreed that there should be selections for A and B Grade bands, that the same should apply to the quickstep, and tlja-fc the "Own Choice" Bhould be open to both grades. The Publicity Committee was instructed to circularise all bands in the dominion and the commonwealth, giving full details of the contest.
