At the council of the Swimming Association last evening a motion was carried calling upon the Auckland Centre to show cause why it should not be suspended for failing to comply with a demand to supply the minutes of meetings. The trouble arose over the visit to New Zealand of Misses Wylie and Venning. Ic is stated that the trip was arranged without the council of the association or the Australian Union being consulted. A letter ‘vitas' read from the Australian Union pretesting against the trip being arranged by the Auckland Centre instead of through the proper channels. The opinion was expressed at the meeting that, . though the council would have to deal with the centre on the matter, the centre was not really to blame, and probably had not been consulted by the individuals who arranged the trip. The Secretary reported that the demands made to the secretary of the Auckland Centro for production of the minutes had failed to elicit any response, and members declared that the president and secretary of the centre were defying the council. SWIMMING COUNCIL. MILITARY DEFAULTERS AND SPORT. (Pkk UkiVko Pees* Association.! CHRISTCHURCH. May 26. The New Zealand Swimming Council does not feel inclined to deal with the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association’s request, that all military defaulters oe debarred from sport. The Wellington Centre had received the Returned Soldiers’ Association’s letter, and had passed it on to the council members of the latter body, who briefly discussed the matter, when it was felt that, it would be difficult to detect and deal with military defaulters. Therefore it was decided to inform the Wellington Cenlre that this was a matter with which the council did not find itself inclined to deal. NEW WORLD’S RECORD. HONOLULU. May 26.
