THE SHARE MARKET

DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. The last weekly period on tho Dunedin Stock Exchange lias been fairly busy, and the prices of a number of lines have shown substantial advances. With the exception of Unions, which have not moved, all banking shares have registered a further improvement, but in insurances there has been really no fluctuation, although the inquiry for Standards has improved. Bank of New Zealands rose to as much as G3s on Thursday, but yesterday lost a little of the ground gained, a ealo taking place at 62s 6d. The only shipping shares to change their position have been Huddart, Parkers, the ordinary issue of which had a repotted sale at 43s on Monday, la, sale at that price on Tuesday, another at 43s 3d, on Wednesday, and three sales and two reported sales at 44s on Thursday, Union Steams (pref.) had a sale on AVednesday at 20s 9d and a repotted sale on Saturday at 30s 6d. Business has been quiet in loan and agency and coal lines, and in meat preservings the tone has been by no means as animated as it was the previous week. AA’ar Bonds have been sought at improved figures, and AVnihis, after effecting a considerable advance early in the period, have maintained the. baiter position established then. Sales took place at 24a 6d and 24s 9d on Tuesday, and then the price rose to ‘2ss 3d on Wedneeday, two more sales taking place at that price, yesterday and another at 25s 6d.
