The hope was expressed by Or 0, H t Chapman at the recent installation cereinony at Wellington that the council would do something during the coming year towards solving the housing problem (reports the New ■ Zealand Times). The comfort of the people should be one of the council’s first considerations, and they should not lose sight of the fact that the housing difficulty was a real tragedy. The recent tragedies in the city had brought before his mind the responsibilities of public men such as they were.The floating loaves of the Victoria Regia, a giant water-lily, sometimes measure up to 12ft across.
