OVERSEAS CLUB
The Overseas Club is arranging apatnoiio demonstration for Empire Night (Thursday next), May 24. By special request. Sir Joseph Ward has consented to come from Wellington to deliver an Imperial address. A loyal resolution will be moved, anti'the Hon. C. E. Statham,, M.P., Speaker of'.the House of Representatives, and Mr J.'-W. Munro. M.P , will give a short address on the resolution. The Mayor (Mr H. L. Tapley) president of the club, will occupy the chair, and . cOydially invites the ■ pubfe to be present A limited number of asatiT'will be reserved for members until 7.55 -pan. on presenting their membership tickets. Musical items will bo contributed by s the Band of tho Ist Battalion Otago Regiment, under the condrttorship of Mr T. R, George, ,nnd the Idlers’ Quartet (Messrs Angelb. Rejd, Scott, and Cantor on). Mrs W. Andrew* will stogt “There's a Land of Glory,” and Mr 8, G. Augell will give .(by special request) “The Death" o! Nelson.”' Miss Clara Hughes will act as accompanist.
