CONTROL OF LEITH AND LINDSAY’S CREEK. RECOMMENDATIONS TO DRAINAGE BOARD. The Works Committee of the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board reports' a» • follows; — The legal position regarding the control of such streams as Lindsay’s ■> .Creek and the Leith has again come into prominence as the result of the recentnood. The matter has engaged the close'attention of your committee, and represelita- ’ fives of the committee have conferred with the board’s legal adviser. A miftula by the secretary clearly sets out the position. It is now' recommended. that the board servo notice on the occupiers of property bordering on the streams in question to show . cause why they should not clear the bed of the stream of all obstruction, and. failing Compliance, the board-*,jvill forthwith proceed with the work, leaving the cost to be a charge on the;, land affected. . • . That is the procedure prescribed;*: and; with a view to expediting the matter, it is recommended that the occupiers concerned be notified to show cause why the notice should not be served at a special meeting of the board to -be held on Wednesday next. May 30, at 7.30 p.m., in. the Town Hall. ______ -T
