THE FRANCO-BELGIAN NOTE

GERMAN OFFER EMPHATICALLY REJECTED.

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, May 6. The Franco-Belgian Note has been published. It declares that Germany’s proposals are in direct opposition to the Versailles Treaty, and that they cannot be considered while violent resistance continues in the Ruhr, which will only bo evacuated as the reparations are paid off. The French reply was published too late for detailed comment in tho English newspapers. The Daily Telegraph regrets that France rejected more than tho contents of Dr Cuno’s offer on reparations, for she rejected also tho British Government’s appeal for concerted action which Lord Curzon proposed.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
