OTAGO EARLY SETTLERS’ ASSOCIATION.

The monthly committee meeting was held iri the board room yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon, Mr George Calder (president) being in the chair.

The following gifts were received and votes of thanks passed to the donors: —From Dr Fulton, a number of books, pamphlets, and old newspapers, also a galvanometer made in Dunedin, 1862; A. M. Love, Green Island, framed portrait of his late parents —Mr David Love (Caribou, 1667), Mrs Love (Hamilla, Mitchell, 1864); J. S. Kirkpatrick, Dunedin, framed oil painting of the ■ late Geo. Dodson, Dunedin (early sixties); from members of the family, framed portraits of their late parents, Mr and Mrs R. Ferguson, Tokomaiiiro and Tapanui (Southern Cross, 1856); from the estate of the late Thomas Morris, framed portrait of his late parents, Mr and Mrs W. Morris, Sawyers’ Bay (George Canning, 1857); W. J. Frictor, framed portrait of his late father, George Prictor, Dunedin (Lord Worsley, 1858); Miss P. C. Thomson, Invercargill (on loan), large oil painting of Dunedin, 1856, painted by her late father, J. T. Thomson; Mrs W. H. Middleton, St. Clair, photo group last Caversham Council, 1904, Miss Middleton (Autographic Mirror, 1864); from members of the family, framed portraits of their late parents, Mr and Mrs Robert Findlay, Dunedin (Helenslee, 1863); Mrs A. Meyer, Cumberland street, picture of Dunedin from High street, 1869; Sir George Fenwick, Dunedin, scrap book of the late Captain Win. Thomson, Port Chalmers, 1855; from s'. Crow, brass candle snuffers, found at the site of first Jetty street wharf by Messrs M’Lellan, contractors, whilst excavating for the foundations of the Otago Fruitgrowers’ Association buildings, April, 1923 (old Pier Hotel site). The following deaths were recorded: Richard Sandilands, Moana crescent (Zealandia, 1862); Mrs Joseph Bell, Dunedin, 85 (arrived 1861); Mrs Wm. Glass, Dunedin, late Eatanui, 79 (Grasmere, 1862); James Samson, Wellington, late Dunedin, 85 (Alhambra, 1863); Silas Here, Wellington, 71 (Gabriel’s Gully, sixties); Alex. M'Millan, George street, 73 (Alpine, 1859); R. T. M'Donncll, Dunedin (late sixties); Mrs P. Robertson, Puerua, 64 (early sixties); Daniel Win. Woods, Dunedin, 86 (arrived Otago, 18C1); James Don, Mornington, 80 (Andrew Jackson, 1864); S. Jacobs, Dunedin, 75 (arrived Otago 1865); Donald Williamson, Fifield street, 70 (Melbourne, 1861); Miss M. R. Little, Hokitika (arrived Otago sixties) • William Quayle, Allanton, late Roxburgh, 89 (Gabriel’s "Gully, 1861); William Sim, Warrington, 89 (Siliatria, 1860); Peter MTntosh, Dunedin, late Lumsden, 86 (Mariner, 1859). The following early settlers were enrolled: Mrs M. Agnow, Mornington (Omeo, 1861); Wm. ' Findlay, Gisborne (Helenslee, 1863); Mrs Thos. Brown, nee Young. Wcitati (E. P. Bouveric, 1868); Mrs Alex. Meyer, Cumberland street (Otago, 1867); D. L. Adamson, Daily Times Office (Helenslee, 1863). Seven descendants were also enrolled.
