RUINED BOOKMAKER’S ACT. LONDON, April 24. A verdict of murder and of suicide while of unsound mind was returned at an inquest at Wandsworth on a ‘bookmaker and his wife, who were found shot dead, in their i-esidence. In a letter the bookmaker wrote that he had been unsuccessful, that backers owed him £I2OO, and, “unable, to .stand it any longer,” he was taking his “poor wife” with him. The coroner, sympathising with the bookmaker, said that the time was coming when the State must‘supervise betting transactions.
