RECONSIDERATION OF MEMBER- ‘ SHIP. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, May 6. (Received May V, at 5.5 p.m.) ■ The League of Nations Union has passed resolutions in view of the Saar Commission’s motion, that the Council of the should reconsider the membership of the commission.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
A message published a few days ago stated that Sir John Simon, in the House of : Commons, had asked whether the League of Nations’ Council in March adopted a, proposal to issue a decree by the League, as the responsible body under the Versailles Treaty, for the administration of the Saar, making it an offence punishable by line or imprisonment ,to criticise publicly the Treaty of Versailles or the action of the League, and what action the British, representatives took. i-Mr Stanley Baldwin (Chancellor, of the 'Exchequer! replied that the statement was substantially correct. With regard to the attitude of the British representativ.es the President of the Board of Education (Mr E. F. L. Wood) would shortly make a statement.
