Mr T. Somerville was a passenger for Wellington by the express on Saturday. Mr W. Grey loft bv the express on Friday morning for a holiday trip to Honolulu. Mr Johannes C. Andersen, librariah of the Alexander Turnbull Library, returned to Wellington by the express on Saturday. Mr J. G. Jeffery, of Messrs Williamson, Jeffery (Ltd.), left for Wellington by Saturday’s express. i Messrs A. Morrison, M. Connolly, and T. C. M’Lollan, Gtago members of the executive of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, left for Wellington by the express on Saturday. Mr V. Berkeley is at present in Dunedin making arrangements for, the J. C. Williamson production “The Peep Show.” His Honor Mr Justice Sim, who has just returned to New ■ Zealand after a trip to England, is expected to reach Dunedin by the express from the north to-night. Mr J. Petterd', advertising manager of the Christchurch Sun, will leave this morn ing for Invercargill. He returns to Dunedin to-morrow, and will lecture at the Overseas Club in the evening. ' Mr F. W. Dawson, of Auckland, has taken up his duties as assistant manager of the London branch,of the Bank of New Zealand. Mr A. L. Hompton, who has been appointed manager of the Wellington branch, sailed for the dominion by the Orsova on March 27. -

The death suddenly yesterday morning of Mr Archibald Thomson, of O'poho, a well-known citizen of Dunedin. Deceased was for 31 years in the employ of the Otago Daily Times as a canvasser, and during that time made himself exceedingly well liked by all with whom he came in contact. He performed his duties in the ordinary way all last week. He was a prominent office-bearer in St. Stephen’s Church, and also took part in founding the Opoho Church. He leaves no family, his wife having predeceased him some years.
