WIFE MURDER PLOT
THE KERSIE CASE. HUSBAND SENTENCED .TO THREE YEARS. Press Association—By Tolefiaph—Copyright LONDON, May 4. John Kersie was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.—A. and N.Z. Cable. John Kersie, of Liverpool, was charged on April 10 with inciting a man named Connolly to murder' Mrs Kersie in order to secure the insurance money under the newspaper insurance scheme. Kersie elaborated a plan under which Connolly, attired in a. white sheet, should .. appear suddenly before the woman, and, while she was in a state of terror, tip her over the stair banisters. If this did not break her neck, Connolly was to finish her off with a coal-hammer. Connolly 'was to receive £IOO for his trouble. Connolly apparently agreed to the terms, but unfolded the plot to Mrs Kersie, and the police subsequently arrested Kersie.
