WELLINGTON, April 128. At the inquest on the body of Herbert Reginald Johnson, who was killed as, a re- ; suit of being knocked down by a motor . car driven by Thomas F. Bailey, the coroner returned a verdict “That the causa of death was a fractured skull received through being knocked down by a. motor ear negligently driven by Bailey, ''.-yha ignored all notices warning motorists against trams and excessive speed.” .. ! CHRISTCHURCH, April 28. Threfe men were admitted to the hospital last night as the result of a head-on collision between a taxi and a tramcar on the Papanui road. Their names are Francis M‘Tigue (the driver), J. Garrett, and-Wil-liam Dermott. A fourth passenger escaped without injury. Dermott received head .-injuries. He was admitted to the hospital- in an unconscious state, but the condition’ of all ; three was reported satisfactory to-day.' The ■ motorman states that he saw the motor car coming towards him and sounded the gong. When he saw that the taxi did not change its direction he began to slow down, and; the tram was practically at a standstill at the time of the impact.
