MANCHESTER UNITY
Lova.l Alexandra, Lodge, Port. Molyneux, was 'favoured at its usual monthly meeting with a visit from, members of Loyal Queen of Otago (female branch) and Loyal Pride of Kaitangata Lodges. The District b'x' ecutivlo was represented by D. P.P.G-.M. Bro. X. Middlemass. Visitors were present also from Loyal [Mount Wcndon, Outraru, and Palmerston Lodges. On the completion of business an adjournment was made to the Port Molyneux Hall, where a most successful evening was spent in dancing, inter spersed with vocal items rendered by Sisters Kilgour, Bennett, Gray, Bros. A. M. Wyllie, J. Robertson, and Clearwater. Tho meeting was the finest for a long time. Tho meetings of Loyal Albion have been showing a decided improvement of lato. Tho attendance of members has been better, and visits from members of sister lodges more frequent. At tho meeting held on tho 22nd inst. R.G. Bro. C. Anderson welcomed P.P.G.M. Bro. A. R. Lawry, who still retains a real live interest in M.U. activities. Prov. S.G.M. Bro. J, A. Kobson was again heard to advantage in his discourse on tho advisability of joining up with tho Now Zealand branch M.U., u project which is rapidly gaining ground, as evidenced by tho remarks of several prominent Oddfellows present. Tho usual meeting of Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge was presided over by N.G. Bro. Cumberbeach. The attendance was fair. Tho' principal business was tho election of deputies to represent the lodge at tho annual district meeting, to bo held at Cromwell on the 31st inst. Eight wore appointed. Later in tho evening Bro. A. Sligo and Per. Sec. Bro. P. W. Stabb gave tho mooting an interesting outline of tho business to come before deputies at tho Cromwell mooting. Loyal Albion was tho only sister lodge represented at this meeting. N.G. Bro. Jas. Henderson presided over tho fortnightly meeting of Loyal Dunedin Lodge. Keen competition ensued over the election of deputies to tho annual district meeting. Prov. Trea-s. Bro. A. Sligo and Per. Sec. Bro. P. W. Stabb outlined the business to come before the District Committee, paying particular attention to tho remit in regard to joining the New Zealand branch M.U., a project which they do not favour. Questions were asked, and in the main satisfactorily answered. A largo number of visiting brethren were in attendance. Close on 100 members of the order participated in tho meeting of Loyal Valley Lodge on the occasion of the annual official visit from sister lodges. N.G. Bro. H. W. Kirkwood presided. The delegates appointed to attend the district meeting aro the N.G., per. sec., and treasurer. The district executive attended tho meeting in full numbers; every lodge in ' the district was also well represented. Discussion on the business paper was deferred until next meeting. At tho social function items were rendered by Bro. P. Young, F. Miliier, W. J. Roscvear, A. Sligo, J. Mitchell, and C. H. Russell; Bro. Meldrum played the accompaniments. Items by an instrumental trio and quartet woro thoroughly enjoyed, and, light refreshments were partaken ot at the termination.
