The trawler Vidette landed at Grimsby five survivors of tbo collier Hejmdal, which sunk during a voyage from Swansea to Odessa. The Hejmdal was swept from end to end with gigantic waves off Spurn Head. The ship’s cook was washed overboard and the cargo shifted, producing a dangerous list in the vessel. The capitan and crew had to Jash themselves to the masts to send out distress signals. A youth of 17 years was fatally crushed between the vessels during the rescue operations, which were earned out in mountainous seas. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
