THE WHEAT MARKET. Prcefl Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, March 4. Tho wheat cargo market is inactive, but values are fully maintained. Parcels are in fair request occasionally at enhanced rates. —A. and N.2. Cable. LONDON TALLOW SALES. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. haa received tho following cablegram from London, under date the 2Sth ult.: Tallow.—We quote present spot values for tho following descriptions:—Fine mutton, 41a per cwt; good beef, 41s 9d; mixed, 3Ss 3d. Market quiet. LIVERPOOL WOOL SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report having received the following cable from London, dated March 3: “Liverpool Bawra wool sales: Attendance of buyers is fair; competition animated; American and French buyers arc operating freely; British buyers reserved. As compared with last sale’s closing rates in London, merino wools, scoured, 5 per cent, lower: crossbred wools, greasy, 5 to 10 per cent, lower; elipo wools, 15 per cent lower.” GRAIN AND PRODUCE. Messrs Donald Reid and Co. (Ltd.) report:— Oats.—The market is firm, and any samples of now season’s oats are meeting with a good demand at Ss for A grade Gartens and 3s lOd for B grade. Wheat. —Tho agreed upon by the farmers’ and millers’ 'representatives is 5s Id for Tuscan, 5s 3d for Hunters, and £s Gd for velvet, f.o.h. nearest port, sacks extra. These prices are subject to the Government prohibiting the importation of Australian wheat and flour. Fowl Wheat.—The market is a little easier, and Oamaru and Timaru report that, owing to the wet weather, there will be a quantity of fowl wheat from their districts. We quote: Good whole fowl wheat, 4s Id (sacks extra). Potatoes.—Oosignmente have increased, and the market has declined. Prime Taieri and Stirling potatoes axe realising £7 to £1 10s per ton. Chaff. —Prime black oaten, £4 15s to £5; good to best feed, ft 5s to £4 10s (sacks extra).
Messrs DaJgety and Co. (Ltd.) report; Oats.—Very few lines are coming forward, and the inquiry is slightly bettor. We quote: A Gartons to 3s; B Gartona to 2s lOd; under-grade from 2s per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat. —Sales have been made at tho prices fixed at a conference of growers and millers at Christchurch. All sales, however, have been made subject to adjustment in the event of this agreement not being ratified. Prices are as follow; —Tuscan, 5s Id; Hunters, 5s 3d; velvet, 5s sd, f.oi>. nearest port (sacks extra). Fowl Wheat—There has been very little coming forward, and the inquiry is quiet. Sales have been made at 4s Id. Potatoes. —Supplies have been short, and. prices have finned. Wo quote: Best tables up to X 7 10s per ton. Chaff.—Pair supplies have been coming forward, but the demand for prime chaff still remains firm. Tho inquiry for other sorts, however, is not so keen. Wo quote; Prime oaten sheaf up to £5; good to best feed, £4 5s to £i 15s; inferior, £2 15s per ton (sacks extra).
Scott Bros., produce merchants and commission agents, agents for the Egg and Poultry Growers’ Association, Dunedin, report—Eggs: Fresh, la 6d; Circle, stamped, in crates, Is 7d. Butter Dairy, la 5d per lb. - Honey: Prime clover, bulk, 6d per lb; 101 b tins, 6s to 6s 6d each. Beeswax, Is 6d per lb. Fat, 18e to 21s per cwt. Poultry: Hens, 2s 6d to 3s per pair; ducklings, 6s 6d to 6s 6d per pair; geese, fls per pair. Turkeys : Hens, 9d per lb; gobblers, lOd per lb. Pigs: Baoonors, 7d per lb; porkers, 7fd per lb Potatoes: Best Oamaru, £7 10s to £8 per ton. Oniona: Canterbury, to band, £7 per ton. Chaff: Prime oaten sheaf. £4 15s per ton (sacks extra); medium quality, oversupply. Oats, 3s per bushel (sacks extra). Whole fowl wheat, 4a 0d per bushel (sacks extra). Straw: Pressed wheaten, £3 10s; oaten, £1 per ton, ex store. Please Note. — Pigs and poultry must arrive not later than Thursday mornings. We can supply petrol, motor lubricating oils and greases, lucerne and poultry meal, hulled oats, shell gnt, Pareora moat meal, leg rings, toe punches, charcoal, wire netting, Star brand chicken food, and egg crates. INVERCARGILL WOOL SALES. (Pen United Press Association.) INWEE CARGILL, March 5, The second wool sales of tho series were hold here to-day, 7500 bales being offered to the usual bench of buyers, when tho quality was considered. Tho prices showed a drop of about Jd to Jd in medium and inferior wools. In liner wools tho quality was not up to previous sale. Bidding wos brisk on tho bettor quality clips and spasmodic in other classes. Following is tho range of prices; Half bred d. d. Super .. 21 to 23J Medium 17 to 20 Inferior 152 to 17 Three-quarterbrcd. Super 16 J to 18i Medium 15 to 16J Inferior 14 to 15 Medium Crossbred. Medium 12 to 14J .. Inferior 9 to 12 Coarse Crossbred. Super 91 to H Medium 82 to 10i Inferior 8J to 82 Pieces. Crossbred 7J to 10$ Locks 42 to 64 Bellies. Medium halfbred ..11 to 1,3 Crutchings 4J to CJ
