STUD MERINO RAMS.

A VALUABLE CONSIGNMENT. Considerable interest has been aroused m connection with the importation to New /calami of over 800 stud merino rams from Henry Collins and Company’s estate, Lucorncdalc, Alount Bryan, South Australia. On tho arrival of the Canadian Planter, from Newcastle, via Bluff, at tho Victoria wharf on Thursday afternoon, a large numlier of breeders and others assembled to watch the landing of tho sheep. In the course of a brief chat with a Daily Times representative Mr Arthur Collins, who is the proprietor and manager of the Luoornedale Estate, from which the sheep had come, said that they had had a particularly anxious time on the vovage, as very bad weather had been experienced between Newcastle and Bluff, and the vessel had had to heave' to for two days and nights. He and his men, who had received every assistance from tho ship’s captain and officers, had had a most unenviable time with the sheep, which wore penned on deck, and which were wet through. Fifty* three sheep were landed at Bluff and Too were landed at Dunedin. A further consignment, which will compete in the Sydney Show, will arrive in New Zealand in about a month’s time. „ ...
