The conference of representatives of the various interests with the Merchant Service Guild agreed that the pav of pilots at Sydney and Newcastle filial 1 bo increased from £520 per annum to £7OO, with a minimum of £550. METHODIST PRESIDENT. (SYDNEY, March 1. The Rev. T. Frederick Potts has been appointed president of the Methodist Conference. He previously had charge of various suburban parishes in Sydney. Mr Rush, of Auckland, remained in Die ballot till the fourth last. POST OFFICE PROFIT. MELBOURNE. March 1. The Post Office profit for 1921-22 totalled £1,.540.000, compared with £1,114,000 for the previous year.
