DIVORCE TANGLE

A REMARKABLE CASE

Praaa Association— By Ttl*graph— Copyright LONDON, February 27. The Hon. John Mitford, a brother of Lord Redesdale, is asking the British Divorce Court to uphold a decree of nullity granted by the German courts to the daughter and heiress of Herr Von Fnedlauderfold, the German coal king, whom Mr Mitford married in Germany early in 1914. Mr Mitford cites as co-respondent Richard Von Kuhlmann, who was secretary of the German Embassy in London when war broke out, whom Mrs Mitford married after obtaining a German decree. It was stated that the German law permits the nullity of a decree to a spouse who was mistaken with reference to the other spouse’s personal attributes. The respondent obtained a German decree a few months after the marriage on the ground that Mr Mitford was addicted to masculine indolence and unbearable selfishness. The hearing was adjourned.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
