THE BONUS REDUCTION
NOT ENFORCED BY CHRISTCHURCH. COMMITTEE’S REPORT DEFEATED (Peh United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 22. A special meeting of the City Council was held to-night to consider a report of the By-laws ami Finance Committee relating to the reduction of bonuses. The committee recommended that the reduction in bonuses made by the Arbitration Court pursuant to its general orders of May and November last be put in operation as from January 1, 1923, and that the savings effected in consequence be applied in providing employment for workers in need of it. The motion for the adoption of the clausa was negatived by 12 votes to 7.
