BIBLICAL PHARAOH IDENTIFIED. RELICS THAT MOSES SAW. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, January 18. With a great wealth of historical argument, a famous Egyptologist (Mr Arthur (Weigall), in an article in the Daily Mail, advances the theory that the Pharaoh of the oppression of Egypt, who knew not Joseph, and whose death is mentioned m tho first chapter of Exoduo, wa« none other than Tutankhamen. Mr Weigall instances the well-known fact that Tutankhamen conducted great building operations, employing many foreign slaves, and eays that this corresponds with the Biblical account of the taskmasters. The Daily Mail points out that if this is true, it is quite likely that Moses himself gazed on the very relics which ate now being removed from the tomb.—A. end N.Z. Cable. [Mr Weigall retired in 1914 from the position of Inspector-general of Antiquities under tho Egyptian. Government. Early in his career he became assistant to that renowned authority, Professor Flinders Petrie, in later years ho achieved fame in connection with special researches at Abydos, 19011902; Sakkarah, 1902-1904; Leaver Nubia. 3006-180/; Wady Hamm a met and Kossair, 3808; and more especially in his work on the excavation and preservation of the tombs of the nobles of Thebes, 1907-1911.
