ROSINA BUCKMAN CONCERTS
At His Majesty’s Theatre to-morrow night, Miss Rosina Buckman, the worldfamous New Zealand prima donna, and Mr Maurice D’Oisly, the celebrated AngloFrench tenor, will give the first of their three farewell concerts in Dunedin under the direction of Mr E. J. G raves! ock. Since their last appearance here a few months ago the famous singers have had a most successful tour of Australia, and are now paying a short return visit to the dominion prior "to their return to Europe. At the concerts given in Wellington last, week both Miss Buckman and Mr D’Oisly were reported to bo singing in hotter voice than at any time since the beginning of iho .Australasian lour. Their rendering of tho great “Garden Scene" duct from the celebrated opera, “Boris Goudonov.” by tho Russian composer. Modest e Mousaorgsky, created a sensation. 'Phis duet was given for the first lime in Wellington, and tho large audience listened to it with rapt attention, rewarding tho singers at its conclusion with a tremendous ovation. Tomorrow night’s programme will include, besides the “Boris Goudonov’’ duet, die favourite scene between Rodolfo and Mimi at tho end of the first act of Puccini’s “La Boheme.” Miss Buckman will sing Santuzza’s aria from “Cavalleria Rusiioana.” Sibelius’s “The Tryst,” “All Souls’ Day.” by Richard Strauss, and “Waiatn Poi.” Mr D'Oisly will lie heard in the tragic song of Romeo at the tomb of Juliet from Gounod’s opera, and the “Dream Song of Des Grioux.” from Massenet’s "Manon.." The box plan is open at. the Bristol Piano Company, and day sales are obtainable at the Geyser Confectionery.
