George Kenneth Kitching, who became manager of the Hornsby branch of the Government Savings Bank after the murder of the late manager (Mr Kemmis), has been remanded on a charge of stealing £5400 of the bank’s money. Kitching disappeared from the bank, and was arrested at Albury. TOn July 9 last year. Frank Cecil Kemmis, manager of the Hornsby branch Savings Bank, was assaulted in n train between Hornsby and Wahroonga, on his way home from the hank, and robbed of the keys. Ho was discovered in a semiconscious condition bv another oassenecr. and was onlv able to state that ho had been assaulted and the keys taken. He was removed to hospital, where ho died llio following dav. After the assault an attempt was made to rob the bank, where there was £SOOO in the safe. The attempt wa.s unsuccessful, as two keys wore required to open the safe.]
