The Prince did not bring the ring in his pocket, but Lady Elizabeth understands that it will be sapphires.”' The Earl added: “I am also told that the Duke was not in the least nervous when proposing, only in his usßal pood spirits.” The Duke spent Tuesday morning with his fiancee perusing a huge pile of congratulations. The couple then motored to Buckingham Palace and lunched together. Like the Duke, Lady Elizabeth is interested in work among the poor, and she participates actively in the Girl Guide movement. “ Rathep a rag, isn’t it, coming iust after mv renorted engagement to the Prince of Wales?” she said, when interviewed. “ Tile Duke proposed just after tea on Sundav in the morning room.
