The impressions of tho Queensland bowlers’ tour of Nov.- Zealand were summarised by Mr E. J. Archibald when acknowledging Uio civic welcome here. They viewed the city of Wellington with groat admiration, lie said, and then journeyed to Christchurch, where they felt that they were living in tho atmosphere of Old England. *Bhcn they went to that grand old settlement which tho Scots carved out for themselves. At Palmerston North they were greatly impressed with tho advance made in the laying out of tho city. Rotorua was to them one of the wonders of tho world, and its attractions had entranced them. They felt they would like to live in Rotorua, if it were not for the aroma. —(Laughter.) However, he understood that Rotorua was regarded as a I safety valve for tho district. Last, but not I least, they had come to Auckland, the capital ! of the North Island, at any rate.—(Laughter.) , "I hope 1 have not made a mistake, Mr Archibald said, “but at any rate I meant no reflection on Auckland.” —(Renewed laughter.) They regarded Auckland as being tho climax of their visit, and believed the host was yet to come as far as scenic beauty was concerned.
