Prices were firm at the full rales ruling at the close of the previous sale. DAIRY PRODUCE AND MEAT. CANTERBURY PRICES. (Fnou Our Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 35. Our food seems likely to cost ns more in the immediate future than for soma little time past. Cheese has now firmed very considerably. Dairy choose is quoted at 9jd wholesale instead of BJd, and factory cheese from lOd to 301(1. Tho indications are that butter may go up again as there, is a good export demand. One firm has notified a rise of 3d per lb in bacon during the week, and probably this will be general. Eggs are cheaper by 3d per dozen than at Christmas, but against this meat threatens to advance in price. At Addington last week there were rises in lamb, mutton, and beet prices, the most notable being £1 per head on beef. Butchers’ prices have not advanced because, as one butcher explained, these prices may adjust themselves at the next sale. Butchers aro not doing very much in lamb owing to big prices.
