CHATHAM ISLANDS CHILDREN
TO VISIT DUNEDIN. (From Our Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 13. Invitations by the score continue to roll in for the Chatham Islands school children—invitations to parlies, to factories, to picture theatres, and to the seaside—and now arrangements have been completed for a visit to Dunedin This morning the little visitors were quite excited. “We have looked at. Dunedin on the map, but that is all wo know about it,” they said. ‘‘Wo arc looking forward to that train journey; it will be such fun ” Sir R. Heaton Rhodes has been responsible for arranging the Dunedin trip, for which the children’s fares will be paid by the Hon. C. J. Pari’ and the Hon. J. G. Coates. When the trip will take, place has not been fixed definitely, but it will be some time within the coming fortnight. A daily programme has been drawn up for next week. The Canterbury Rugby Union is forwarding two footballs, with additional linings. for the uso of the children on the islands, accompanied by 12 copies of “Rules of Football ’’ ’The Rugby Union expressed the wish that the gifts would bo the means of starting football on the islands.
