MANCHESTER UNITY
The annual meeting of Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge, Port Chalmers, was presided over by N.G. Bro. Clifford, who was greeted witn the largest attendance the lodge has experienced for' some time. The principal business of the meeting was the election of officers. The results were as follow; —N.G., Bro. R. Cable; V.G., Bro. W. 0. Clark; E.S., Bro. G. Boll; warden, Bro. D. A. Clark; guardian, Bro. G. Allan; treasurer, E.G. Bro. J. Emerson; trustee, P.G. Bro. T. F. Basiro; auditor, P.G. Bro. W. D. Campbell. Eulogistic reference was made by P.P.G.M. s Bros A. Cable and J. Crawford to the very fine manner in which the retiring N.G. (Bro. Clifford) had conducted the affairs of the lodge during his term of office, his efforts on behalf of sick and distressed brethren being specially mentioned. One now member was initiated during the evening. A good attendance of members, together with a lair sprinkling of visiting brethren, greeted N.G. Bro. M’Donald at the annual summoned meeting of Loyal Albion Lodge. The I’rov. Grand Master, accompanied by his deputy, paid an official visit, and com ducted tlio installation of officers. The officers for the ensuing term, headed by P.G. Bro. C. W. Anderson as N.G., are expected to make a creditable showing during their term. Ordinary routine, including the honouring of toasts and a vote of thanks to installing officers, concluded the business. Keen competition for office was evinced at the annual meeting of Loyal Cromwell Lodge, the following being elected N.G., Bro. J. K. Munro; V.G., Bro. A. Rcc; ES.', Bro. J. Hosking; G.M., Bro. R. Bretherton; warden, Bro. Bryce Ritchie; conductors, P.G.’s Bros. Kernohan and W. Campbell; auditor, Bro. W. Mitchell. The question of holding the next district meeting in Cromwell came up for discussion, and it was unanimously resolved—“ That the District Executive be invited to hold the annual district meeting of March, 1923, at Cromwell.” New members are being admitted regularly, and members generally are keenly interested in the affairs of the lodge. The visitors’ toast was responded to by P.G.’s Bros. Finder and Kernohan. Prov. D.G.M. Bro. J. A. Robson, assisted by officers of sister lodges, installed the officors-elect at the annual summoned meeting of Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge, tnoso installed being :—N.G., Bro. Cumberbeach ; V.G., Bro. MTntosh; E.S., Bro. Henderson; G.M., Bro. Austin; warden, Bro. Lawson; guardian, Bro. Sim. 'these suitably iesponded, and were accorded the Oddfellows’ toast. The attendance was large, a considerable amount of routine business being transacted. Lively discussion ensued over one matter, in which Prov. Treas. Bro. Sligo and P.P.G.M. Bro. Hamel were the principals. Members of the District Executive and visiting brethren from Loyal Dunedin Albion, and Valley Lodge responded 'to the customary toasts.
