The smashed the instruments, rifled the till, and were opening the safe when two Free State officers arrived. They shot one of the raiders dead.—A. and N.Z. Cable. DESERTERS EXECUTED. LONDON, January 9. (Received Jan. 10, at 0.5 a.m.j Five soldiers, who deserted from the National Army, were shot to-day, after trial by court-martial on December 11. The men were captured at the Kildare fight wherein a National soldier was killed and two wounded. The five men who were executed apparently deserted during the fight, taking arms and ammunition with them.—yA. and N.Z. Cable.
