AN IMPORTANT CONFERENCE. (From Otjb Own Correspondent.'. WELLINGTON, January 9. The officials of the New Zealand Labour Party consider that the coming conference in Christchurch ' will be the most momentous that the New Zealand Labour Parly has ever held. The report of the executive in connection with the land policy , of the party, as instructed by the Auckland Conference, will fc6 presented to the qonferoncc. Ano'ther important subject for discussion will lie the method of selecting candidates for municipal and parliamentary honours. . “Wo are getting a. more efficient organisation,” said Mr Nash, the national secretary, “and there is more spirit in the movement than there has ever been before. Yesterday, for instance I received from a small minors’ union a. letter enclosing £27. I had not asked for this money, and it was never suggested that the donation should be made. The important point about the conference is that wo are _ going to hold it without, having any liabilities, which is tho first time for years that such a thing has happened. v «... ... Nominations for the official positions in the Labour Party close on February 16. Mr T. Brindle is at present the president.
