New South Wales fears a repetition of? this state of affairs, the. matter having been accentuated by the announcement that 400; Italians are now on the Australian ooafet, bound for Sydney It is stated that 'there are already nearly 200 Italians in Sydney waiting on the Government to help in making land available, and that most of "the. contingent now on the way are also landseekers. Shipping firms are said to • htfvo been largely responsible for the immediate, influx of Italians. > . Despite the fact that last year an Italian; delegation that visited Australia was assured by the Government that Italians would' tjr-, tainly be welcomed here, the State Government has now turned the cold shoulder-to the proposal, and, according to the" Premier, no assistance can be rendered'' t to, Italian immigrants.
